It’s been 22 days in my new 240L compost bin which I put in a start block, my half pile of compost on the ground, dry leaves, kitchen scraps and fresh lawn clippings! It’s already come so far and looking so healthy.. a week ago I added some worm casting just a handful, some more greens and browns. My pile has shrunk so I know it’s working.

We have used Monty as a regular part of our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Classes. Students learn how to build and maintain a compost heap and Monty helps students keep track of what is added to the heap as well as how it is progressing and what may need to be done to tweak it to create great compost. The visual interface is easy for students to use, on the class tablet, that links via Bluetooth to the monitor. They can also keep track of how the compost heap has performed over the year which has the potential to link in with their classroom learning in the future. Monty aligns well with our focus on nature education and the integration of digital technologies in nature. 

Monty for Schools

[Our] student use of the Monty Compost Co monitor to use the provided CSV and then develop a web app utilising Python Software Foundation, Flask, ChartJS. The brief being, to build a web application that provides actionable information to students who will be keeping our compost environment healthy 🐛🌏♻️
